Thessaloniki Airport Buses
Public buses link Thessaloniki Airport (SKG) with the city centre and the main transport hubs. They are the most affordable way into town, and they also connect with the Thessaloniki Metro, which opened in late 2024. Services are run by the regional transport authority, OSETH.
Three lines serve the airport, leaving from the Arrivals area:
Bus 1X / 1N — City Centre, Railway Station & KTEL Makedonia
Line 1X is the main daytime service, running to the city centre, the new railway station and the "Makedonia" KTEL intercity coach station. Line 1N follows a similar route overnight, with a few more stops. Buses run frequently through the day; for the current timetable and frequencies, check the OSETH website before you travel.
Bus 79 — Eastern Bus Transfer Station (IKEA)
Line 79 connects the airport with the Eastern Bus Transfer Station near IKEA, from where you can continue to the eastern districts of Thessaloniki.
Bus 2X — Connection to the Thessaloniki Metro
Line 2X links the airport with the metro transfer station at Nea Elvetia. There you can change onto the Thessaloniki Metro (opened in November 2024) to continue to the city centre. The metro does not yet reach the airport itself, so the 2X bus is the link between the two.
Bus Stop at Thessaloniki Airport
The bus terminal is in the Arrivals area, in front of Exit 4 of Terminal 1. Buy your ticket before boarding at the OSETH ticket booth or the automated machines in the terminal; OSETH tickets are also sold at many points around the city.
