Parking at Thessaloniki Airport (SKG)
Thessaloniki Airport has several open-air car parks a short walk from the terminal. They are monitored and open 24 hours a day, all year round, and no booking is needed. Since April 2024 the car parks have been run by the CITYPARK PARK & GO joint venture, which upgraded them with number-plate recognition and automated payment. The first 20 minutes are free in every public car park, which is ideal for quick pick-ups and drop-offs. Please only park in the marked SKG car parks, even for a short stop.
The public car parks are:
- P4 — short-term, closest to the terminal
- P3 — long-term
- P6 — long-term
- P7 — long-term, the most economical for longer stays
P5 is reserved for coaches and pre-booked taxis, with annual cards available for minivans and coaches.

In the long-term car parks, the multi-day price builds up gradually — roughly €50 for a week at P3 and slightly less at P6 or P7. It is capped at about €130 to €140 for around a month, after which the flat daily rate applies. For longer stays, P6 and P7 are the cheapest choices, while P4 is best for short visits close to the terminal.
How Payment Works
The upgraded system uses number-plate recognition (ANPR) to automate access. As you drive up, cameras read your registration to raise the barrier. Before returning to your car, you can pay at the automated machines in the terminal or by the exits — typically by entering your registration number — or via digital payment options. At the exit, the cameras recognise your paid vehicle and raise the barrier automatically. If the barrier does issue a paper ticket on entry, keep it to scan at the machines.
Which Car Park Should I Choose?
Choosing the right car park:
- Dropping off or picking up: any public car park, free for the first 20 minutes.
- A few hours (a meal, a short meeting): P4, closest to the terminal.
- A day or two: P3, P6 or P7 — all cheaper than P4 beyond the first day.
- A week or more: P6 or P7, the most economical for long stays, with the monthly cap ensuring costs remain fixed for extended stays.
Drop-off, Pick-up, and Accessibility
For quick pick-ups and drop-offs, use the free 20-minute allowance in any public car park. Designated accessible parking spaces for passengers with disabled parking permits are located close to the terminal entrance. Prefer Not to Drive?
If you prefer not to park, the airport is well connected to the city by airport bus, taxi, or a pre-booked private transfer. For a longer trip, this often works out cheaper than several days of parking.
What about parking outside the airport?
Several private car parks sit within two kilometres of the terminal and run their own shuttles. The airport car parks are the only ones that tell you the price before you book — not one of the off-airport operators publishes a tariff.
