Thessaloniki Airport Buses

Thessaloniki airport buses are the only public transportation option serving Macedonia Airport. They provide direct and convenient connections between SKG Airport, Thessaloniki city center, and all major transportation hubs.

Depending on your destination and the time of day, you can choose among the following bus lines:

Bus 01X: Airport → Intercity Bus Terminal (KTEL)

Bus Route 01X connects Thessaloniki Airport with the city center, the Central Railway Station, and the “Makedonia” KTEL Intercity Bus Station.

  • Operating hours: 06:10 am – 10:40 pm
  • Frequency: every 20–25 minutes
  • Duration to city center: ~40 minutes
  • Duration to KTEL: 50–55 minutes

Bus 01N: Airport → Intercity Bus Terminal (KTEL)

Bus Line 01N follows the same route as 01X but with more intermediate stops. It operates only at night.

  • Operating hours: 11:10 pm – 05:55 am
  • Frequency: ~every 30 minutes
  • Duration to city center: ~50 minutes
  • Duration to KTEL: ~60 minutes

Tip: Between 11:30 pm and 00:40 am, there are three special 01N routes going from the airport to KTEL via IKEA.

Bus 79: Airport → A.S. IKEA

From the IKEA Terminal, you can continue to all eastbound areas of Thessaloniki. Bus 79 connects the airport with IKEA Station.

  • Operating hours: 06:05 am – 10:30 pm
  • Frequency: every 30 minutes
  • Travel time to IKEA: ~10 minutes

Tip: Bus Line 79A also departs from the airport and heads directly to KTEL Chalkidiki.

Bus Stop at Thessaloniki Airport

The bus stop for all airport bus routes is located just outside the terminal building. Exit the Arrivals or Departures area, and the stop will be on your right-hand side.

Thessaloniki Airport Bus Fares

Airport bus lines (01X and 01N):

  • Adult ticket: 1.80€ / 1.80$
  • Reduced fare (students, seniors, children): 0.90€ / 0.90$

Other city bus lines (including Bus 79):

  • Adult ticket: 0.90€ / 0.90$
  • Reduced fare: 0.45€ / 0.45$

Additional ticket options:

  • 2 rides within 70 minutes: 1.10€ / 1.10$
  • 3 rides within 90 minutes: 1.30€ / 1.30$
  • Children under 6: travel free

Important: Tickets are purchased from the vending machines onboard. Vending machines do not give change, so carry exact coins.
